Fast Food Friday – Dark Chocolate Dipped Mandarins

Pickle and I are big fans of mandarins and clementines, and really any sort of orange variety. They are so sweet and juicy, and handy to keep on hand for a snack. There is typically always a box (or bag) of clementines around the house, and when I saw a pin the other day for chocolate dipped clementines – via The Comfort of Cooking – I knew that I wanted to try it! Could you really go wrong with Dark Chocolate Dipped Mandarins?

I had mandarins on hand, so that is what I used, however clementines would also work.

That’s it… that’s all you need. I peeled and divided 3 mandarins, taking special care to get any stringy bits off. I used Hersey Special Dark chocolate chips for the dipping – simply because that is what I had on hand. I melted the chips in the microwave heating and stirring for 15 second intervals until the chocolate was melted. I used Kosher salt for sprinkling.

Dip each mandarin segment into the chocolate, place it on a tray lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with a few grains of salt.

Put them in the fridge to set for a few minutes, and then devour them. I warn you ahead of time, they are addictive. I don’t even usually love the chocolate and orange combination, but these puppies were absolutely tasty. The tart, sweet, and salty combination was perfect. Pickle loved them in her lunch too! Dark chocolate dipped mandarins were a hit all around.
